Write in the Middle, Volume I is a writing workbook designed to walk junior high students through every stage of the essay writing process. This contains Part I, which covers the basics of writing an essay including prewriting strategies, thesis statements, introduction and conclusion paragraphs, and adding evidence and analysis within body paragraphs. In Part II, students will also learn techniques for improving word choice, varying sentence structure, and organizing their information in a logical way. Later chapters focus on different types of writing including persuasive, descriptive, and research writing. This workbook contains exercises and writing assignments at the end of every chapter to practice the new skills as well as many worksheets to help students revise and reflect on their writing. The goal of this book is to equip middle schoolers with the tools to plan, draft, and revise high-quality essays.
