Terms of service

Effective date: August 11, 2026

These Terms of Service apply to the use of goodbookscompany.org and to retail purchases from GOOD BOOKS COMPANY LLC, doing business as Good Books Company (“Good Books,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

By placing an order after being provided a link to these Terms at checkout, you agree that these Terms apply to that order. We do not rely on passive browsing alone as agreement to material terms.

Eligibility and account responsibility

You must be able to form a binding contract to place an order. You are responsible for the information submitted through your account and for protecting your account credentials. Contact us promptly if you suspect unauthorized use.

Used books, condition, and images

Most products are used and may show wear consistent with their stated condition. The expressly listed title, ISBN, edition, format or binding, condition grade, condition notes, and stock-image or actual-copy label form part of the product description.

A stock image is illustrative and may not depict the exact cover, edition, or physical copy. The expressly listed ISBN, edition, and format control. Access codes and supplemental media are not included unless the listing expressly says they are included. Review the listing’s condition information before purchasing; if an item is materially different from its listing, contact us under the Return and Refund Policy.

Availability and quantity

Many products are one-copy inventory. Adding an item to a cart does not reserve it. Orders remain subject to inventory confirmation and payment authorization. If an item is unavailable after an order is submitted, we will cancel the affected item and issue a prompt refund.

Prices and product-data errors

We try to keep prices, identifiers, descriptions, and availability accurate. If we discover a material error before carrier handoff, we may contact you for instructions or cancel the affected item and issue a prompt refund. This paragraph does not excuse a known error or limit a right that cannot legally be waived.

Orders, payment, and taxes

An order confirmation acknowledges receipt of your order; it does not guarantee inventory availability. You authorize the amount shown at checkout, including applicable shipping charges and taxes. We may reject or cancel an order because of payment failure, suspected fraud, inventory unavailability, legal restrictions, or a material listing error. If we cancel an amount already paid, we will issue the applicable refund promptly.

Shipping

Processing commitments, shipping methods and charges, delay procedures, address changes, and missing or damaged shipment procedures are stated in our Shipping Policy.

Returns and refunds

Return requests, return shipping, cancellations, inspections, and refunds are governed by our Return and Refund Policy. Nothing in these Terms limits any warranty, remedy, or consumer right that cannot legally be waived.

Promotions

A promotion applies only according to the eligibility, exclusions, redemption instructions, expiration, and other material terms displayed with that promotion. If a promotion cannot be redeemed as advertised, contact us before ordering.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how personal information is collected, used, and disclosed. Available privacy choices are described there and through the privacy controls linked from the storefront.

Site use

Do not attempt unauthorized access, interfere with site security or availability, submit unlawful content, use the site to violate another person’s rights, or scrape the site in a way that imposes an unreasonable load.

Third-party content and services

Book covers, publisher material, payment services, carrier tools, and third-party links may be owned or operated by others and remain subject to their rights and terms. A third-party link is not, by itself, an endorsement.

Book-buyback transactions

A request for Good Books to bid on, purchase, collect, or receive books is different from a retail purchase. The written bid or pickup confirmation and any Buyback Terms presented with that transaction control its eligibility, inspection, freight or pickup, and payment terms.

Changes and severability

We may update these Terms prospectively by publishing a revised version and effective date. If a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to the extent allowed by law.
