The book was written by a Fellow in the Academy of Orton Gillingham and is based on Orton Gillingham instruction of basic syllable labels including open, closed, magic e, r-controlled, and vowel teams. Included in this book is a fun story of the c vs k rule as well as a teacher's glossary of syllable labels. Orton Gillingham is the gold standard approach for teaching struggling readers, specifically children with dyslexia, to read and spell.
