Description
Much of our lives are driven by performance and having the right appearance before man. But what matters most is having a right heart before God. After all, the person we are on the inside is more important than the one we portray on the outside. FAKE? is a Bible study that takes a detailed look at the life of the religious leaders of Jesus' time and exposes the fallacies of the Pharisees. Jesus saved His harshest words of rebuke for the Pharisees and Teachers of the Law because He saw right through their self-righteous hearts and masks of hypocrisy. If Jesus reprimanded the spiritual giants of the first century, isn't it time we heed His indictments upon these individuals? Participants will be compelled to further spiritual growth as they engage in six weeks of purifying heart work. They will gain deeper insight into the Lord's misgivings with the Pharisees and begin to identify their own struggles through the process of refinement and restoration. As God's scalpel is allowed to penetrate each heart, individuals will: Identify and uproot core areas of the heart that prevent deeper intimacy with Jesus. Recognize the pitfalls of pride and be challenged to grow in humility. Learn to evaluate and pinpoint impure motives for doing things. Remove artificial masks and embrace living as an authentic Christian. Replace complacency with a passionate pursuit of God. Stop acting like we're good enough and start behaving like the One who is. Everyone can exhibit pharisaical traits. FAKE? will unzip the participants' hearts as they are challenged, encouraged, and motivated to identify these areas, walk toward the throne of grace, purge any existing piety and embrace internal purity in order to live Christlike in a counterfeit culture. For the author, the process of deep pain and grief birthed this study ... for she, herself, is a recovering Pharisee. Weekly video teaching sessions that accompany this Bible study, FAKE?, Leader Guide Tools & Tips, and Study Resources are available on the author website. www.HesterChristensen.com Introduction - "No More Hiding" (27:48) Week 1 - "Paid In Full" (40:52) Week 2 - "Internal Purity Begins With a Proper Identity" (42:01) Week 3 - "Removing Logs, One At a Time" (36:40) Week 4 - "No More Clean Towels" (38:48) Week 5 - "Worship Impacts Witness" (43:30) Week 6 - "Do You Really Know Him?"
