Description
Harry Morgan and his father, John Morgan, lived through the dramatic early period that gave birth to the Montana of today. John Morgan was among the early trappers and fur traders who had regular commerce with the Blackfeet and Gros Ventres. He established the first ranch in Prickly Pear Valley and would end his life as Sheriff of Fort Benton. Harry Morgan, born in Fort Benton in 1863 of a Blackfeet mother, would grow up in the wildest times of the Wild West. As every new project began in the new territory, Harry Morgan was a part of it; from the first cattle drives, to the building of a railroad, and then to the growing movement to preserve forests and wildlife. The Ovando Museum and Historical Society has developed a rich collection of Harry Morgan material, including two personal accounts of his life, which form the basis for this book.
